Storing beer in a fridge? Anyone used a temperature controller?
My BF is a beer enthusiast. I wanted to buy him a beer fridge for long-term storage of the beers that age well (this is NOT a budweiser boy). I read an article on realbeer.com that recommended getting a regular old fridge and using a temperature controller ($60) with it to keep the temp constant - the article said that's just as good as a wine cooler but cheaper. I can't find much more info on it, though.
Has anyone done this? Know anything about it?
(actually, i found great deal on a cheap wine cooler, but it doesn't have any fancy temp controls, so I assume it's not much different from a regular fridge)
ANY knowledgable advice would be great..
you can adjust the frig temp manually and just use a cooler thermometer to see if it's the right temp. any frig will maintain a constant temp within reason-especially if it's got a built-in tap and doesn't get opened up too much.
or, spend a bunch of money on hi-tech crap1
