I do not think I should tell you about the beauty of the French Mediterranean, an area known affectionately the "Midi". Start with the marketing materials. Picpoul de Pinet is a grape that is a perfect example of Mediterranean climate in a bottle. Expect hints of citrus, curry spices, garrigue and flora in a racy / fresh. It is a palace of recycling would be excellent or correspond to a grilled shrimp dish. And now, for my review.
I started sipping the wine alone. It was refreshing acid and provide a note of honeysuckle. The next meal consisted of a omelet with artichoke dip commercial and Japanese rice crackers. I felt lip puckering acidity. The shade of citrus wine lasted long. The wine was finally broken by the DIP acid. Interestingly, it came out well with rice crackers. Later in the meal wine softened. It has become soft again, in the presence of wasabi peas.
I finished the tasting with two cheeses. The first was a Provolone. The wine tasted very fruity and had a good length and acidity. It was better than average for a wine and cheese pairing. Cheddar marbled succeeded in muting the wine, especially its acidity. This match was not nearly as good as before.
Final verdict. Mixed feelings. There are many good wines from $ 10 there. I do not see the point of returning to it. But maybe I'm too harsh. For $ 10 what can you usually expect from a producer of expensive wine such as France?
